The Avondale Police Department is seeking help in solving a homicide involving an unknown woman found on March 28, 2002.

On March 28 at pproximately 8:20 p.m., Avondale Police responded to the area near 123rd Avenue and Indian Springs Road, which is located north of the Phoenix International Raceway, in reference to a deceased person. The body was located on the east side of 123rd Avenue. It was discovered by persons walking in the area, and then reported to the police department.

Avondale Police Detectives were called to investigate the crime when it was determined that the crime had occurred within Avondale's jurisdiction. During the course of the investigation it was determined that the subject was the victim of homicide.

The victim is a Hispanic female, approximately 16 to 18 years of age, shoulder length black hair with lighter brown coloring "highlights", approximately 5' 03" in height, and approximately 120 pounds in weight. The victim did not have any tattoos, visible scars, or other identifying marks. The victim was wearing blue jeans and a dark gray colored sweatshirt when the body was discovered.

It is believed that the victim may have been killed the evening or day prior (03/26/02) and the body not discovered until the next evening.
