Detectives Seek Information from Past Friends of Joel ZellmerDetectives with the Sheriff's Office want to speak with anyone who dated Joel Zellmer, or any of his past acquaintances.
Zellmer was arrested on June 6th for the drowning death of his 3 year-old step-daughter, Ashley McLellan. He remains in the King County Jail in lieu of $5,000,000 bail on charges of Murder in the 1st and 2nd Degree, and 1st Degree Theft.
At the time of Ashley's death, he was married to her mother Stacey. About 5:30 PM on December 3, 2003, Zellmer said he found Ashley in the family pool. She died two days later. Zellmer had a $200,000 life insurance policy on Ashley.
Detectives investigating the case found several other bizarre incidents and injuries that happening to young children in Zellmer's care going back to 1990.
Since Zellmer was arrested, several people have come forward and provided information to detectives.
However as detectives continue to investigate Zellmer's past, they want to speak with any women who dated him. They also want to speak with any acquaintances who might have known him over the years.
