Cold case Portland, Oregon murderer arrested in Brownsville indicted
On Monday August 27, 2012, a Multnomah County Grand Jury indicted 63-year-old Jeffrey Paul Cutlip in connection with three cold case homicides that occurred inPortland,Oregon.
Cutlip was indicted on two counts of Aggravated Murder and nine counts of Murder in connection with the deaths of 44-year-old Marlene Claire Carlson in 1975, 15-year-old Julie Marie Bennett in 1977 and 33-year-old Nielene Doll in 1993.
Cutlip will be arraigned on Tuesday August 28, 2012 in Multnomah County Court.
On August 6, 1975, 44-year-old Marlene Claire Carlson was found strangled in her apartment at715 Southwest 15th Avenue.
She had last been seen alive on July 30, 1975.
On April 4, 1977, 15-year-old Julie Marie Bennett went missing and was found dead two days later in Johnson Creek.
On July 21, 1993, 33-year-old Nielene Doll was found deceased offSoutheast Bull Run Roadin ruralClackamasCounty.
She had been reported missing earlier in the month.
In late July 2012, Cutlip was living inBrownsville,Texasand called the Brownsville Police Department to admit his involvement in the murders.
Cutlip was arrested on July 23, 2012 inTexasand was extradited toPortlandon August 16, 2012.
Cold Case Homicide Unit detectives are continuing to investigate all three cases and releasing additional information on any of these cases could compromise the investigation and the eventual prosecution of Jeffrey Cutlip.
No additional details can be released at this time and the Carlson, Bennett and Doll families are requesting absolute privacy at this time.
